وَعَنِْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رضي الله عنه قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «إِنَّمَا الأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَّةِ، وَإِنَّمَا لاِمْرِئٍ مَا نَوَى، فَمَنْ كَانَتْ هِجْرَتُهُ إِلَى اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ فَهِجْرَتُهُ إِلَى اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ، وَمَنْ كَانَتْ هِجْرَتُهُ لِدُنْيَا يُصِيبُهَا، أَوِ امْرَأَةٍ يَتَزَوَّجُهَا؛ فَهِجْرَتُهُ إِلَى مَا هَاجَرَ إِلَيْهِ» Narrated Umar bin al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "The actions are only by intention and for the man is that which he intended (i.e. reward of deeds depends upon the intentions). So whoever emigrates for the sake of Allāh and his Messenger, his emigration will be for the sake of Allāh and his Messenger, and whoever emigrates for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration will be what he emigrated for."
