Berejiklian 'might need to take a stand' on poor ministerial behaviour

Berejiklian 'might need to take a stand' on poor ministerial behaviour Sky News Political editor Andrew Clennell says Gladys Berejiklian may need to start demoting senior colleagues who break the rules amid claims NSW minister Don Harwin may have flouted the state's strict social distancing rules.

The Australian Newspaper has revealed Minister Harwin has been hosting a young former Liberal Party candidate – who recently returned from the UK – at his Central Coast holiday home for the past three weeks despite his government's strict isolation policies.

It is understood that lawyer Geoffrey Winters, who contested the seat of Sydney at the 2016 federal election, arrived at Mr Harwin's property straight after returning on a flight from London.

That is despite all overseas arrivals being compelled to self-isolate for 14 days in case they have contracted the novel coronavirus.

Mr Clennell said Ms Berejiklian might need to "take a stand."

"A transgression like this, you would have to wonder about Don Harwin's position," Mr Clennell said.

"One reason he would feel safer than most he is a close factional colleague of Gladys Berejiklian."

"The other thing is, she hasn't axed a minister in three years. The problem with not axing ministers for doing the wrong thing is they will continue to do the wrong thing, maybe's it's about time Gladys Berejiklian took a stand on this kind of thing."
