Disneyland is still closed. Nearly everything around it is shuttered. But one of the few things we’re allowed to do during the current stay-at-home situation is take occasional walks. Well after being indoors for a straight week without a break, I’m ready to stretch these legs out, and what better way than a long walk around the Disneyland resort perimeter, to see how my hometown is faring during the closures, and who better to take along than you? There is currently no longer an official date for reopening. Forbes estimated June in a recent article, but Disney’s official position is “closed until further notice.” Can’t blame them, the situation is still too fluid and murky to know much about the next phase. But the resort is secure and still here, some cast members are still maintaining it (and off camera I must have seen literally several dozen security guards and Anaheim PD police officers) during the walk, patrolling and maintaining not just the park but the hotels and businesses around.
From Ball road to Harbor Blvd to Katella and then down Disneyland Drive past a deserted Downtown Disney ... it all seems abandoned but in sort of a beautiful, peaceful way. Soon we’ll be back in Fantasyland getting popcorn or riding the Mark Twain in frontierland, but for now, here’s what it looks like taking a walk around Disneyland resort during closure
