Clear corneal ECCE - is there an indication in this day ?

The following video is of an one eyed patient who had already lost the other eye due to end stage glaucoma. The eye posted for surgery has several co morbid factors: one eyed, previously has had two filtering surgeries, a rigid non dilating pupil , an extremely hard cataract, loose zonules and an optic nerve whose health we knew nothing about .Here phaco and SICS are high risk for several reasons 1) superior conjunctiva is scarred 2) Rigid non dilating pupil 3) Extremely hard nucleus grade 5 4) Loose zonules 5) One eyed which may not survive extreme and long duration of surgical time.
In view of all the above i made the decision that the gentlest surgical procedure would be a clear corneal extra capsular extraction. This video details how i went about performing the procedure.
